Anna Patterson sent the following email to the Gradient Ventures team earlier today.
I came to Google in early 2004, so it is fitting that I end my tenure as 2024 approaches. I am fortunate to have had a front row seat in the rise of Search, Android, and AI.
We founded Gradient Ventures in the hopes that Google’s strength in AI would resonate with AI-founders. When we made our first investments into Algorithmia and Lambda Labs, the attention paper had not yet been published. The thesis was to co-create Gradient Ventures with our founders who hoped to build transformational AI companies. I’m inspired by what we have been able to accomplish together. We have over $1B under management in 150+ remarkable seed and series-A companies, such as Streamlit, unitQ, and Labelbox and over 147 others. Seeing the AI ecosystem grow has been an amazing journey and I am immensely proud of what we have built together.
Today, I am sharing the news that I will be moving on from Gradient at the end of this year as it has been almost 20 years since I first joined Google.
Gradient Ventures is a special place for us and our founders and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.
Best Wishes
